The people who live in the Alps, and in my experience, mountains everywhere, are spiritual people if not superstitious. Cruciforms dot the landscape, like this one in the heart of Morzine. I think this is born out of the dangers and hardship brought by the landscape.

As a person who had spent more than his far share of time living amoungst mountains, you take all the help you can get in keeping you safe, and alive.
This is the best I ever did. And the pictures I took don't look too different either.
